About Middletown

Homes
Middletown has two Active Adult communities – Shadow Lake Village and Shady Oaks. All homes, in both communities, are attached with a mixture of single floor units, both upper and lower level and some two story townhouses. The homes have either 1 or 2 bedrooms.
Dining and Shopping
Middletown has an ideal location, because Route 35 goes through town. You’ll find a wide variety of shopping in addition to many restaurants. Major malls are a half- hour drive away, plus, most major chain restaurants are in the area. And there are also many fine independent restaurants. Our favorite seafood place is minutes away in Keyport – the Keyport Fishery, take-out only. We park looking over the bay at the NYC skyline and eat in the car.
Recreation & Entertainment
NYC is a short train ride away from the train station in Middletown. The PNC Art Center is in Holmdel, offering big name concerts throughout the summer. Red Bank has The Count Basie Theater and Twin Rivers Theater, with plays and concerts year round. Keansburg has a water park for the kiddies, the ocean at Sandy Hook is a short drive away.
Commute and Transportation
Commuting is easy because NJ Transit has service available at Middletown. Furthermore, there are buses are available to NYC with 2 commuter parking lots. Additionally the ferry to NYC is a short ride away. The Garden State Parkway has 2 interchanges in town – Exit 109 and Exit 114.
All Adult Communities in Monmouth County offer transportation services. There is a bus service from each community to local shopping centers such as malls and supermarkets. This is a scheduled service and there is no charge. There is also a medical transport bus that will take people to any medical facility or doctor’s office in Monmouth County. Advance reservations are needed, however, there is a minimal charge for this service.

Bayshore Hospital is located in Holmdel, and Riverview Medical Center is in Red Bank.
