The children are grown and have moved on. The grandchildren have arrived but your family is spread across the country. So when it comes to time for you to retire, are you going to stay where you have spent the last 30 or 40 years?
Doesn’t sound like there’s much reason to remain there. Especially with the warmer climate being offered elsewhere in the country, along with a lower cost of living.
So where are retiring people moving to? Well I’m not surprised why the results of a recent survey I just saw. It seems Florida is the place to go. More specifically, Orlando, Tampa and Miami are the top three locations. These are followed by Scottsdale Arizona and Atlanta. All of these areas offer a warmer climate and a lower cost of living.
But from my own experience, we find that people quite often will move to these warmer climates. But after a year or three, they’ll call us up and say we’re coming back.
This also doesn’t surprise me.
