If you’ve been searching for a home, you’ve probably seen the words “Move-in Ready”. But are there homes that are truly “Move In Ready”?
In my opinion – no. But the difference is in the interpretation of the term. As for myself, a “Move In Ready” home is one where all I need to do is unpack and put my stuff away.
Do I want to do some minor sheet rock repairs and paint? No.
Do I want to repair or replace molding? No.
Do I want to remodel the kitchen? No.
Replace appliances? No.
Paint? No.
Clean up the landscaping? No.
Cut the grass? I’m okay with this one.
Replace or install window treatments? No.
Install ceiling fans? No.
I could go on for quite some time but I think you get the picture. But these are things that most people want to do to their new home. They want to make it their own.
But if you purchase new construction they’ll have everything done before you close – right. Not necessarily. You’ll still need to install your own window treatments, and probably paint to your desired colors. And do all those little things that make it yours, and not someone else’s definition of “Move In Ready”
