This is yet another loaded question. Hire a Realtor, pay them nothing to sell your home. Who says no?
Every FSBO (For Sale By Owner) says no.
Of course you must realize that a Realtor is not going to sell your house for free. We need to make a living. So yes, a Realtor will sell the house and earn a commission. And you, the seller, will pay that commission. But paying that commission will not cost you anything.
Should I continue? I will, but please stand by for a word from our sponsors, Bunny and Art Reiman, Realtors.

So let’s continue. Why won’t it cost you to sell if you are paying a commission?
It’s simple. Every year the National Association of Realtor conducts a study. The study say that last year, over 90% of all home buyers used a Realtor. And many of the remaining buyers were family members. So if you try to sell FSBO, you are limiting your potential buyer base to well under 10% of the buyers. And these buyers are astute enough to know that, since you are not paying a Realtor, they can deduct the commission rate from their offer.
Also, the same study shows that the median priced home sells for 14 % more when sold through a Realtor! So if you are selling the home yourself, and trying to save the five or six percent commission, you are actually costing yourself money, not saving.
And this doesn’t even address the money you won’t pay for advertising. And do you want to let anyone come in and walk through your home? Would an extra layer of protection from legal liabilities be beneficial to you? How about some professional negotiating skills?
Does this explain how it won’t cost you to use a Realtor to sell your home?
