There are some renovations that will help sell your home. After all. many buyers these days are looking for certain features in a home. Many of these features, if you don’t have them, will not provide a good return on investment when you sell. But here are a few that should at least break even, and also make your home more saleable.
Hardwood Floors.
It is a well known fact that buyers love hardwood floors. Does your home have them? Many older homes, built in the seventies and earlier do. And quite often they are covered with carpet. Consider either installing hardwood in the public areas or removing the carpet. If the existing floors need to be refinished, do so. Remember – buyers love hardwood floors.
The Roof.
What condition is your roof in? Can you see daylight coming through in the attic? Are there water stains on the ceilings? Are shingles missing or curled up? All are signs that you need a new roof. If you are staying in the home, you need the new roof to protect you and your belongings. If you are selling, many buyers will not have the cash to replace the roof right away, and will bypass your house for one that does not need a new roof right away.
Patio or Deck.
Do you have one? A deck or patio adds curb appeal to a home and increases useable space. You can enjoy the space yourself, or make the home more appealing to buyers.
The Landscaping.
While we are talking about outdoor living space, consider making the space even more appealing with new or upgraded landscaping. This usually gives a positive return on your investment.
